So there is now no condemnation awaiting those who belong to Christ Jesus. For the power of the life-giving Spirit -and this power is mine through Christ Jesus - has freed me from the vicious circle of sin and death. Rom 8:1-2 (TLB)
This is the message we must make sure the world knows about. It has been said that Christians are called to be witnesses, not lawyers! In other words, it is not our job to convict people, our job is to minister to those who are under the Holy Spirit’s convicting influence. Of course, He will often use our lives to demonstrate the change that comes when one is free from the onus of sin. Are you ready for that?
It is easier to preach ten sermons than to live just one! We must be careful to avoid getting too wrapped up in the convicting part of Christianity without experiencing the forgiving part. Whenever we attempt to convict someone of their sin we often succeed in driving them further away from God. Make no mistake, we are not to endorse or enable someone’s sin. On the contrary, we should always stand for the truth and righteousness. But as we take what is rapidly becoming an unpopular position, we will hold out that hope of forgiveness and the ability of Jesus Christ to change one’s life.
